This is my latest refined recipe for hot chocolate (always a work in progress):
  • Cocoa
  • Sugar
  • Whipping cream
  • Milk
  • Oats
  • Orange (optional)
  1. In a bowl, mix cocoa (generously), sugar/vanilla (to taste), and whipping cream. Stir gently with a hand whisk until you achieve a moderately fluffy batter (add more cream if it becomes too dense).
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan along with some oats (1 tablespoon per liter of milk) and, for example, grated orange zest. Let it steep for a few minutes.
  3. Combine the cocoa batter into the saucepan and heat it while stirring until it's almost simmering.
  4. Strain the chocolate mixture back into the bowl, and then transfer it back to the saucepan (or thermos or cup...).
